Dianne J. Beale is an author, an editor, and a poet. She was born and raised in Northern New York in the village of Potsdam. Following the example of her oldest sister, she began writing poetry while still in the elementary grades. Her love for words grew with the encouragement provided by two high school teachers: Mr. Duncan Cutter and Mrs. Kathy Robinson.
     Although she chose to attend the State University of New York (SUNY) at Potsdam for its Biology Curriculum, she eventually elected, instead, to become an English Writing major. The late Dr. Kelsie B. Harder, an eminent onomastician, author, and English professor, greatly influenced Dianne’s writing along with another instructor, Richard Hall, who inspired her to minor in philosophy. Dr. Alan Steinberg (author of Cry of the Leopard and Divided) also provided discerning and constructive critique; he continues to lecture at SUNY Potsdam.
     Dianne graduated in 1990 with a Bachelor of Arts in English Writing. Her favorite poet is William Blake and her favorite book is Jane Eyre by Charlotte Brontë. Additionally, she admires the works of George Orwell, C.S. Lewis, J.R.R. Tolkien, Edgar Alan Poe, and John Keats. She previously lived in New York, Texas, and in Morelos, Mexico but presently resides in the Greater Philadelphia area of Pennsylvania with her husband, Michael, and their son, Micah.
